A slow start to the year

I managed a whole 4 rides in January. Started off the year with a fun (if puncture filled) ride with Nicky just after new year and then the snow returned along with illness. Recovered just in time to spend a day snowboarding with Amy and Ali, since then I have managed 2 commutes and a local pootle. A grand total of 217.5km. Pathetic!

Maybe February will be different? I’m aiming for 1 commute a week (still waiting for lighter mornings which will make getting out of bed easier!) plus one other ride a week. Next Sunday will hopefully see a fixie ride to the coast with Amy so I should really give the Pompino a bit of tlc before then.

The Cyclogs site appears to have died so I’ll be updating my progress over >>> in the sidebar. Last year I only rode about 2/3rds of the distance I managed in ’07 & ’08, maybe this year will be different?

Much the same here Simon, crap start to the year. I blame the weather but that is a really poor excuse. I have decided to give Cyclogs ago this year as to be quite frank the Map My Ride site has become a pile of advert laden shite run by a bunch of money grabbing bastards. I am not paying to get access to the archive of my stats, but it’s sodding annoying that they’re all locked away in there. Could be summed up as 2008 quite a few miles, 2009 not as many, 2010 hopefully more…

Ah, Cyclogs is dead. That’ll teach me to skim read. Best look for a plan B then.

At least a few rides is better than no rides.

Things will be be different when the weather gets better/lighter as your commute is so long that you will only need to do a few to make up for any lost mileage over winter.

I’ve done er not a lot so far this year. Mainly due to the snow and ice making rides tiny.
