Once wasn’t enough so I found myself on the startline of the wonderfully named Boggart Hole Clough cyclocross race this afternoon. Once again I was woefully slow off the startline and found myself DFL within a few hundred yards. Where things differed from last time was that I then started chasing people down and passing them rather than just bimblimg around for the first couple of laps.
The course was fun and fast with some nice swoopy singletrack and a couple of tough carries – by the last lap I was going up them like an arthritic 80 year old rather than a highly tuned athlete. I was still passing people at these 2 points though!
A pleasant surprise saw Jenn change her mind about going to the Huddersfield cross race and come to this one instead so I had someone to cheer me on every lap which helped. Still can’t believe she rode over from Hebden Bridge only a week after breaking her wrist. Madness. Nigel and Craig were also there. Managed to avoid getting lapped by Craig but speedy Nigel lapped me just before the final lap started. Git
No idea where I finished but I think it might be a little bit higher than last time. Going to do at least one more race this season as there is another one at Leverhulme park at the end of November. Hopefully I will have some more speed by then
